Duke Students using design to impact the local community and beyond.

What is DFA?

We’re an interdisciplinary student organization finding creative solutions to some of the greatest challenges in the community today. We get out of the classroom to observe, brainstorm, and build solutions to a variety of problems. Learn more about what we do and how you can get involved below.

What do we do?

Project teams collaborate with mentors and community partners to develop solutions following a human-centered design process. By interviewing real people, teams have relevant research that leads to product creation. The ultimate goal of a project is implementation.

You can follow one of our eight team blogs to see how we tackle community problems all around us. Team Leads work with team members to find a problem space. Example problem spaces include solving problems in poverty, education, healthcare, or sustainability.
